CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2015 SCHOOL GARDEN OF THE YEAR WINNERS!
Started in 2012 in collaboration with Edible Jersey Magazine, our school garden contest has counted almost 300 school gardens across the state. What’s the purpose of this contest? To aggregate information about HOW schools are using school garden education, WHO is the support behind these gardens and WHAT uses the gardens are being used to tie into curriculum already being taught in the school day.
From pre-schools to high schools, gardens transfer the classroom into hands-on, experiential learning, teach children about the living world and connect them to real food.
Our awards include:
- Overall Winning School Garden of the Year Award
- Best Environmental Education Award
- Best Nutrition Education Award
- Best Community Collaboration Award
- And new this year, Best Rookie Garden Award (for gardens under 2 years old)
- A lottery winning award open to all applicants to receive an vertical growing wall
